About ourwater disinfection technology

Disinfection is an integral part of any food-related processing solutions or waste management systems and is also essential in any potable water supply solution.

Residual wastewater is disinfected to replenish natural water resources, to store as process water for long periods, or to use as drinking water. INNOWATECH Anolyte®, a very powerful disinfectant technology where the disinfectant concentrate is produced exclusively from drinking water, electricity, and a small amount of high-purity NaCl, found its place among Sinowatek's eco-friendly, state-of-the-art technologies.

The INNOWATECH Anolyte® disinfectant is produced in Sinowatek’s manufacturing facility under the tradename SulafectTM

The disinfectant is manufactured in an electrolytic process, where a pure saline (brine) solution is split into two phases within a membrane cell.

Approximately 90% of the pure saline solution is transformed at the anode into a pH neutral hypochlorous acid (HOCL) solution, the active ingredient of INNOWATECH anolyte. About 10% of the pure saline solution is transformed at the cathode into a catholyte and is not used as a disinfectant.

The production process of  Anolyte.

Potable water runs through a filter into the conditioning module of the Aquadron, where it is softened to 0.2 ° dH.  The softened water is adjusted to the required salt concentration in the brine tank.  The salt concentrate is then transferred to the electrolysis reactor in the Aquadron.

The manufacturing of Anolyte takes place in the electrolysis reactor and the final product is transferred to a reservoir.  From the reservoir, the Anolyte concentrate is injected into the water to be disinfected by dosing pumps at the rate appropriate for the application.  The application dictates the strength of the concentrate.

For example, in the treatment of drinking water, Anolyte is used in concentrations of parts per thousand, while in the treatment of process water, it is used with considerably higher concentrates.

Advantages of usingInnowatech technology

1. Advantages

Water Disenfection

Advantages

The most important advantages of INNOWATECH technology compared to other Anolyte manufacturing processes.

  • Due to the specialized reactor structure and the accurate control of the electrolysis, the anolyte is created within the electrolysis cell in the neutral pH range of 6.7 to 7.2. In this pH range, the proportion of hypochlorous acid, the substance necessary to kill germs, is over 85%.
  • Conducting the process in the neutral pH range prevents the formation of chlorine gas, which reacts very unselectively and harbours considerable corrosion risks.
  • A further benefit of the INNOWATECH process is the lowest possible AOX and THM formation that takes place.

2. Availability

Water Disenfection

Availability

INNOWATECH Anolyte® is not available in a highly concentrated form.  This is not necessary, due to the availability of on-site production using electrolysis, even for large quantities.  Depending on the electrolysis cell used, the active ingredient concentration is between 200 and 900 ppm and thus below 0.1 percent by weight.  This means that there are no hazards or stability problems.  The activity of the active ingredient and its stability, which depend on the framework conditions applied during production, are maximized through an optimal manufacturing process.

3. Application

Water Disenfection

Application

INNOWATECH Anolyte® has been successfully applied in food processing plants, breweries, water systems and animal production water systems as found in hospitals, dairy farms, broiler farms and intensive vegetable farming in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The NRCS granted registration for the INNOWATECH Anolyte® disinfectant that is produced in Sinowatek’s manufacturing facility under the tradename Sulafect.

The active ingredient in Sulafect, hypochlorous acid (HOCL), kills a multitude of pathogens that are harmful to humans and animals by tearing down the pathogens’ cell membranes and enveloping their proteins.
